TREE PRUNING & TREE TRIMMING:

Cleaning is the removal of dead, dying, diseased, weakly attached, and low-vigor branches from the crown of a tree.

Thinning is selective branch removal to improve structure and to increase light penetration and air movement through the crown. Proper thinning opens the foliage of a tree, reduces weight on heavy limbs, and helps retain the tree’s natural shape.

Raising removes the lower branches from a tree to provide clearance for buildings, vehicles, pedestrians, and vistas.

Reduction reduces the size of a tree, often for utility line clearance. Reducing a tree’s height or spread is best accomplished by pruning back the leaders and branch terminals to secondary branches that are large enough to assume the terminal roles (at least one-third the diameter of the cut stem). Compared to topping, reduction helps maintain the form and structural integrity of the tree.

Training is training young trees to grow and act in a certain way, while still taking the tree’s health into consideration.

HEDGES

Reducing an over grown or neglected hedge will provide greater ease for maintenance in the future, saving you money and time.

Shaping your hedges on a annual basis will yield a far better looking and manicured appearance, it will also manage the size of your edge far better than leaving it. once the branches grow out far enough the interior foliage will die and your hedge will only be able to be trimmed so far back again without killing the branches.

TREE REMOVALS

We are very highly skilled and efficient in the dismantling and removal of any tree; dead or alive, big or small, over your structures or out over your septic. There are a fast variety of different techniques that we can use to remove your tree safely with out any damage to your property.

Some reasons that a tree might need to be removed:

-Storm Damage

-Hazard Trees (Ask us more! We are ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified)

-Trees not suitable for their location

-Destructive Root System

-Dead, Dying or Diseased

ROOT PRUNING AND EXCAVTION W/ AIR SPADE

The use of a compressed air-powered tool, or AirSpade, facilitates excavation, soil management, and tree health-care within a tree’s critical root zone. In fact, the proven benefits to tree health from air-spading has made it a preferred means for professional arborists. Unlike mechanical excavation techniques, air-spading efficiently removes or loosens soil without damaging a tree’s delicate root system. There are several common reasons for requiring the use of an AirSpade, all of which open new possibilities for landscape stewardship and construction involving valuable, established trees. The AirSpade can be used to mitigate many soil conditions that are unfavourable to a tree’s health, including soil that is overly compacted, poorly drained, anaerobic, or imbalanced in its physical or chemical composition. Depending on specific site conditions and proper evaluation by a certified arborist, an appropriate intervention can be chosen from a range of air-spading applications. Air tilling, radial trenching, and vertical mulching are examples of operations commonly used for soil management. Each can serve simply as a method of decompaction, which yields considerable health benefits to the tree, or used as an implementation method for soil augmentation.

VIEW ENHANCEMENT

We offer View enhancement, for the many people in the Oceanside area who need to re-top their trees or clear a window to see the beautiful east coast views. It is important to have a company familiar with the local bylaws regarding our communities sloped properties, if not managed correctly, slope failure may occur.

ARBORIST REPORTS

We offer Arborist reports  for building permits, removals or any other reason you may have.

We are TRAQ certified, see “Tree Risk Assessments” below, so we can cover a broad area of tree risk/health analysis.

Our reports are detailed and professional. we can also do a full tree inventory for your urban forest.

TREE RISK ASSESSMENTS

We are fully qualified to perform full-scale tree risk assessments - a process for assessing tree risk and providing information, by way of report, to tree owners and risk managers for making informed decisions that will promote the safety of people and property and enhance tree benefits, health, and longevity.

TREE INVENTORY AND TREE MANAGEMENT PLANS

Do you have a number of trees on your property that you would like to know and manage the health of? Viking Tree Care can perform a Tree Inventory and/or Tree Management Plan for your property, both commercial and residential. This process allows for trees to be numbered, specific data and observation to be collected and all organized into a detailed and comprehensive report for your records. This allows for seamless maintenance when keeping your trees and your property at their most optimal.

CONSULTING

Before land is cleared, and development starts, a certified Arborist should be consulted if any trees are to be retained during the construction process, as well as if a forest edge will remain close to the new development. We can help identify if trees should be retained and, if so, how to protect them and how to manage a remaining forest that is now exposed and not wind firmed.

LAND CLEARING

Are my trees worth anything? If so, how do I sell them? These are commonly asked questions when land needs to be cleared. Viking Tree Care can help answer these questions. We have a wealth  of experience logging residential and commercial properties. Our professional fallers and climbers can lay out and maximize the value in your wood.

CANOPY INSPECTIONS

Having concerns with some bigger trees around your home or structures? We can put your mind at ease and answer those questions far more accurately if we ascend into thick canopy and get an up close look, as well as photograph any evidence of decay or defect that could result in failure of the crown.

To do this, we ascend up ropes instead of your trees, resulting in a harmless process of inspection.

Don’t let anybody tell you the spurs that tree climbers wear are not harmful to your trees - especially older and thin bark species. The wounds that spurs leave are perfect entryways for pathogens and insects which can leave devastating long-term effects.

We are excited to exclusively offer non-invasive canopy inspections to make sure your trees are healthy where you can  and cannot see.
